چکیده

phenotypically normal females with secondary amenorrhea and translocation between Xq and Yq. To the best of our knowledge, the detection of Xq;Yq translocation at prenatal diagnosis has not been reported. Herein, we report the prenatal diagnosis of a de novo unbal anced Xq;Yq translocation for the first time and discuss issues in genetic counseling to be given to patients with this particular abnormality.

The First Case of a Small Supernumerary Marker Chromosome 18 in a Klinefelter Fetus: A Case Report

Small supernumerary marker chromosomes (sSMCs), or markers, are abnormal chromosomal fragments that can be hereditary or de novo. Despite the importance of sSMCs diagnosis, de novo sSMCs are rarely detected during the prenatal diagnosis process. Usually, prenatally diagnosed de novo sSMCs cannot be correlated with a particular phenotype without knowing their chromosomal origin and content; ther...

Prenatal Diagnosis of Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia in a Fetus with 46,XY/46,X,-Y,+der(Y)t(Y;1)(q12;q12) Mosaicism : A Case Report

Congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH) is often associated with major anomalies and chromosomal abnormalities. Chromosomal abnormalities are usually detected in 9.5% to 34% of fetuses with CDH prenatally diagnosed and the defect has also been reported in association with multiple syndromes such as Pallister-Killian syndrome, Fryns syndrome, Di George syndrome and Apert syndrome. Among the chromo...

The clinical application of spectral karyotyping (SKY) in the analysis of prenatally diagnosed extra structurally abnormal chromosomes (ESACs).

OBJECTIVE The prenatal detection of de novo extra structurally abnormal chromosomes (ESACs) presents a challenge because the associated risk for congenital anomaly ranges from 100% to practically none, depending on the chromosomal origin. Despite the use of standard cytogenetic techniques and even fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH), the origin of some ESACs often remains elusive. Spectra...

De novo balanced reciprocal translocation t(2;3)(q31;q27) in a fetus conceived using PGD in a t(2;14)(q35;q32.1) balanced reciprocal translocation carrier mother

We reported a case of a t(2;14) balanced reciprocal translocation carrier mother that conceived by IVF accompanied by PGD/PGS using array-CGH; however, de novo t(2;3) was detected in the prenatal diagnosis. A healthy baby was delivered, and careful observation is needed for PGD/PGS cases.
